I can't believe the New Year has already begun! Christmas Break went by way too quickly! Steve had 3 weeks off of work which was so nice. And V, was home from school for about a week and a half, It was so hard this Monday having them leave and go back to work and school, I also had work this week as well. I can't remember if I've mentioned this on this blog before or not; I'm a substitute cook for the school district,  This is my third year doing that Every year I seem to get called up more and more often to work, Usually it averages to about once or twice a month, But last month and this month I've been more busy, I worked the last week and half before Christmas Break and this whole first week back. I've really come to enjoy the work. I'm grateful they've worked with me in that most shifts start at 7:00 in the morning {a few start a little later in the morning} but I don't come in until about 8:15 after I've taken V, to school, So it's nice that I can still drive V. to school and this job really doesn't affect our home life at all. I only work during the times when I normally would be home alone anyway, But I am glad that this week was my last full week of subbing. It'll be nice to get back to my old routine next week of hitting the gym in the mornings and getting housework and errands done before V. is home from school.
 Anyhoo, enough about that....
We still have Christmas up and I love it!! But I think we'll be taking it down this weekend. Our tree is so pretty I don't want to take it down but it does take up a lot of space in our little living room, so it's time for it to come down. Steve will probably just toss it out in the back garden and in the Spring he'll chop it up to use for firewood, It'll smell real nice when we use it for our fire pit this Summer!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow and having V, home {we don't have school on Fridays}. We're just going to get some work done around the house and hit up Costco and Winco for some groceries.
Well, it's late and time to sign off. I'm hoping to post more often even if it's just to jot down some thoughts or to journal my day.

Back to Blogging

After not having a computer for a year we finally have one again! Yay!! Even before our old computer called it quits, it was struggling with allowing me to use blogger. I had the Blogger app on my phone, but it was hard to type too much on such a small keypad. And I couldn't add photos from my phone. I'm hoping the issues I have had with blogging won't be an issue any more. I guess we'll see!
This is a photo Steve took of V. fishing the other day. They've gone a lot this year and she loves it! I love seeing the two of them enjoying time together!

Girls night

Steve is out camping/fishing this weekend. So I told V. we could have a girls night and she was so excited!
We started with one of her favorite meals for dinner, Pasta a'la Nona. Named for Steve's sister who first made this for us. I'm sure I don't make it exactly the same as her, but I add what I remember!
Then V. had a bath while I cleaned up dinner.
Then we pulled out the sofa sleeper. V. was super excited to sleep on the sofa sleeper. I love how easily she is pleased!
I brought the t.v. into the living room and we stayed up late watching Gummi Bears episodes and eating popcorn.
Nothing fancy. But V. loved it and it was a nice evening for me as well! :)

V. didn't have soccer practice tonight and I actually had some energy so I went to the gym. I have a hard time finding the time to workout during the Summer so it was nice to go.
I got home to see that Steve and V. weren't home.
After a bit, they got home and V. came running into the house to tell me she had caught a fish! She was so excited!
Steve had taken her to get a happy meal for dinner then to Jensen's Grove for some fishing. It sounds like they had a fun evening together!
I love the relationship between these two!

As I think I've mentioned before, I have a love/hate relationship with blogging. I'd much rather "journal" my daily life through pictures and not have to write so much. But I cannot figure out how to post pics from my phone and our computer bit the dust a few months ago. But I really do need/want to be journaling better...
*The other day V. said to me that I was a trophy mom. That made me laugh! She said I'm such a good mom, I deserve a trophy. So not the same context as a trophy wife, but it still made me laugh!
* Our garden is starting to grow and it's exciting! Not being able to garden last year was hard, so I'm excited to be doing it this year and can't wait to eat some fresh, homegrown veggies!
* I started running again earlier this year.{And lost a little over 20 pounds!} I've been listening to my body and anytime my back started to hurt at all, I'd quit what I was doing. It was hard to baby my back last year but has definitely paid off! In May I ran a 5k Color run{on my birthday!} and I also ran a 5 miler in the foothills on Memorial Day. I had run this 5 miler 2 years ago and did it about 14 minutes faster this year! It feels so good to be running again and I've been happy that taking time off hasn't made too big of a
negative impact on my running.
* Every 2 years I'm due for a brain MRI and visit with my neurosurgeon. I had that done a few weeks ago. Dr. Reichman said my scans are spotless! And he said I can go 5 years in between MRI's and checkups now! It's been 14 years since I had my tumor removed. For there to be no sign of it now is exciting! I'm very blessed!
That's all I have time for today. I'll try to get on here to post about Steve and V's activities soon...

Listening to my little one laughing while watching Charlie Brown....I love it!
