Happy Independance Day weekend everyone!!!!

New blog!

Alright I did it! I have been thinking alot the last few weeks about starting a new blog that will have my crafts, recipes and such on it. That way this blog can be just a family blog. What do you think? Was it a good idea? I don't know...I don't have much posted on there right now. I need to start taking pictures of the steps I use when I make things, so that it'll be easier for people to then make their own. Most of what I have posted on THIS blog are just pictures of the finished project. So I can't post those on the new blog until I have step-by-step pictures to go along. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm just rambling on! Check out my new blog and come back every once in awhile as I will try to post some more stuff on there!

Just a couple more....

I forgot to post pictures of a couple more crafts I recently made.
This first one I made for a friend who is also into crafting. I painted a block, distressed the edges, and printed the saying off my word perfect, then tied a ribbon around the whole thing.



This was just a plain wooden craft frame. I painted the sides and such brown, then cut some scrapebook paper to fit the frame and glued it on with mod podge, Then I just hot glued the ribbon and button on. Cute, huh?
Isn't my baby so cute? Only, she's not a baby anymore,*sniff*

This is a countdown to christmas block set. There is a different number on each side of the blocks, so you just rotate them as you countdown to christmas!

I stained( I think I like paint better) the blocks then attached scrapebook paper on with mod podge, then cut the numbers and letters out of vinyl. I gave this one away at the family reunion raffle. I'm going to make one for me, but paint the blocks instead of staining them.

There you go! Thanks for putting up with me and letting me blog about this kind of stuff! Almost all of the ideas I have gotten from seeing things in people's homes, at craft fairs or even in the store.

Christmas Brown Paper Bag Memory book

All right. Here's the christmas book. Again, 12 pages, but I can always add more later if I want to! These are small lunch bags, folded in half. The tops and bottoms of the bags are now on the side. With the fold being the 'spine'.
Again, I'm not the fanciest scrapbooker. I don't like the front of this and will probably change it.

Where the top/opening of the bags are I added pull out tabs.

There is two ways to fold the bottom of the bags. This is one way. You fold the ends together, if that makes sense. Then, in the fold I added scrapbook paper and little one liners, from Christmas movies, songs, books, etc.

Example- Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow, I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year-Charles Dickens,etc.

This is the other way to fold the bottom of the bag. You just leave it how it comes and it makes a little flap you lift up to see a picture underneath.

I realized after I took the picture that I put a set of pages in upside down. I corrected it, but didn't take new pictures! :)

There you go! I have also seen these books done with recipes instead of pictures. I think that would make a cute Mother's Day gift, or something. Maybe I'll try it one of these days....

Little Brown Paper Bag Halloween memory book

Okay, I swear I'm almost done posting about crafts! Almost. I've just been on a creative high the last couple of weeks! But I'm almost burned out. I promise!
This is a memory book made out of brown paper lunch bags. I folded them in half so the tops and bottoms of the bags are now the sides of the book. With the fold being the 'spine' of the book. Right now there is only 12 pages. I thought I could put a picture of V. from each year on a page. It'll last 'til she's 12. (Unless I add more pages!)

This is the front. I'm not the fanciest scrapbooker.


You open it up and you see the cutest little girl ever! (Please excuse my thumb in the picture. I'm covering V.'s name to protect her online identity)

Where the top(opening) of the bag is I added some pull outs with pictures on them.

The side of the book here is the bottom of the bag. I can fold them two different ways. The way it's folded here I have a flap I can lift up to see a (future) picture underneath.

There you go! I also have a christmas one I'll post pics of soon. Hope I don't bore you people with all the pics of my projects! Thanks for looking!

A couple more projects

I have been making flower clips for V.'s hair! I have loved using them on her! Here are just a few I've made.

I made hanging intials for V's room. I bought the frames at walmart, took out the backs and glued the glass in. Then cut her intials out of vinyl. Stapled the ribbon to the back.

The creativity bug has hit

So, I'm not real crafty or creative, but every once in a while the bug hits and I craft like crazy for a day or two. I thought I'd post some pics of some of the stuff I made the last week or two. Some are for me. Some for friends. And some for the raffle at the family reunion next month. Keep in mind I am by no means very good at this and NONE of these ideas are my own.



This is just a block I painted, and mod podged the saying on (I printed the saying off the computer). I distressed the edges of the block and paper and tied a ribbon around the whole thing. I made this for a friend of mine that homeschools and I thought the saying was fitting for her.

This is a block I made for V. I painted the block pink and sanded the edges.I cut the letters out of vinyl with my new Cricut! YAY!

I actually made this awhile ago but thought I would post it anyway. I printed the saying off the computer, bought a cheap frame, used some scrapebook paper and ribbon, and voila! I also made one of these for V. with her name in the background and the words' a Daughter of God' as the overlay. Very cute!

I made these last year with the Y.W. in my church for Mother's Day. I painted the blocks, sanded the edges, then mod podged paper and pictures on. Easy.

Please forget all the dust on the shelf., I really do dust. Just not very often in the basement..... Painted blocks, sanded edges, vinyl lettering from my Cricut.
